About Annafie
... It was on a mother-and-daughter shopping trip to Paris in 2005, where I was inspired to create my own label ANNAFIE. That is why the label takes name of my daughter Anna Sophie.
Since launching my company, which specialises in hand smocked dresses, interest has grown tremendously. Especially, this year, when I had my biggest success ever on international fairs in Germany, Great Britain, Spain and Holland.
During my studies of History of Art at the University of Hildesheim I was specifically interested in embroidery designs and fabrics. I now really enjoy combining that in my own label. All my dresses follow a traditional style and are all embroidered by hand. It is the attention to detail that makes them so special. Because of the smocking technique, they look beautiful on every body shape.
However, the greatest reward for me still is to see girls wearing my dresses and it never ceases to amaze me how pretty they look. This stimulates me to design even more fabulous dresses.
Often people come to show me their own smocked dresses, the ones they saved all those years since their childhood. These were often made by their mothers, their grandmothers and aunts who still knew how to smock and embroider. It is odd to think that this beautiful technique has almost disappeared in our busy modern day lives.
In my collection, I aim for a timeless style but with a fresh and uncomplicated approach and easy care. This year we have used many new fabrics, ranging from woven checks and Vayella, to silk and original Liberty prints. There are also matching cashmere cardigans and boys outfits in a wide range of colours.

Elisabeth Gräfin or Countess von Kospoth descends from an old Silesian aristocratic family. She grew up in Africa and Brasil, where her father worked in development aid. Later she lived in Munich and studied History of Art at the University of Hildesheim. This was completed with a work placement at the Victoria & AlbertMuseum in London. She now mainly lives in London, is married and has two children Frederick and Anna Sophie.
